Arts Activities
Performing Arts Performing arts class is offered to
students in grades 1-8. Performing arts includes drama, dance,
speech, impromptu performances, skits, puppet shows, and
demonstrations. Students in grades K-5 participate in a Christmas
program and students in grades 6-8 participate in a spring musical.
Speech Students in grades 6-8 take speech class,
and students in 7-8 are eligible to be on the speech team and compete in
archdiocesan speech meets with other schools if they choose to.
Choir Students in grades 3-8 may elect to
participate in the church choir. Practice is from 8 to 8:30 every
Friday before mass.
Christmas Program Grades K-5 participate in a
Christmas pageant that celebrates the birth of Jesus and the holiday
season.
Spring Musical Students in Grades 6-8 are required
to participate in the spring musical as part of their performing arts
grade. The sixth grade is the chorus and 7th and 8th graders play
leading rolls or are members of the stage crew. Some plays that have
been performed include Annie, Aladdin, Peter Pan, Guys and Dolls,
Godspell, Fiddler on the Roof and The Music Man.
Cotillion Fifth graders participate in a
cotillion class that includes etiquette, ballroom dancing, and social
skills. It culminates in a dinner dance where students pick the
menu, design a place setting, serve their parents, and perform three
dances with their classmates and a mother/son or father/daughter
dance.
